Being Made New

By Andrew Cascio

“‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In this verse we see part of John’s vision of Heaven. What a beautiful glimpse and promise we get to see of what is to come! As believers we get to know what it will be like for us when we are with God and he is dwelling with us. There will be no more pain and sorrow, there will be no more tears and agony, there will be no more death! Every heartache, every pain, every tear we have cried here on Earth was for a reason. There was a purpose for it. As difficult as the situations are, as much as we may question them or not understand them, we must know that he has a plan for it all. As we go through difficult times we have to ask ourselves if we are leaning on our own understanding, or are we trusting in HIM? Are we having faith that HE knows what’s best for us? Are we knowing that HE is with us and he has a plan for us. Our vision of what we see is like looking through a straw. It’s very narrow and we can only see so far. His vision for us is 360°. He is on the highest mountain, can see in every direction, and the distance he can see is endless. When we see something as a stumbling block, he may see it as something to get your attention, and to get you back on the right path. As we live our day to day lives, we know there will be pain and sorrow, there are going to be tears and sadness, it’s definitive. However, we have a promise that one day all of those tears will be wiped away. We have a promise that there will be no more death. There will be no more pain. As we endure the hardships of this life, know that one day we will be dwelling with the Lord our God and we will be by his side as his people. Think about what that will be like. No more friends or family dying, no more muscle aches and pain, no more feeling alone or missing that person that’s gone. The sorrow and pains of this life will be replaced with joy. Everything will be made new!
