Come Close

By Andrew Cascio

“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Oftentimes we go through struggles, we have problems, and we feel all alone. However, we are never alone, God is always with us. Sometimes we may choose to forget that, put it to the side, or do our own thing. We live according to what we want, what the flesh desires. This isn’t living for God, it isn’t doing his will. James gives us an instruction on how to get closer to God. Get your heart right, ask for forgiveness, repent of your sins, get on a righteous path, and draw close to him.

How do we draw close to him? We read his word, we pray, we have Bible study, we go to church, we sing worship songs, or we love on others in need  just to name a few. As we draw closer to him, and actively seek what his will is for us, he draws close to us. The God of the universe doesn’t owe us anything, he doesn’t have to want a relationship with us, he doesn’t need to be there for us. Yet, in a great act of compassion, love, and grace he is there for us, he chooses us! If we choose to come near to him, he will draw near to us. Choose him first and he will be there for you.

He doesn’t force himself on you, you have to make the decision to draw near to him. When you draw close to him, when you seek his will for you and follow through with it, I believe you will see doors open that you thought you never would, you will see pathways cleared that you never even knew were there, and you will have enlightenment in many areas of your life. God loves you, he wants a relationship with you, as you choose to have a relationship with him, you will see so many great things in your life!
