You are welcome at SWC! Whether you're searching for a church home, a place to find some answers in life, or a safe haven in which to live, rest and grow in the Lord, we hope that you feel at home at Scottsdale Worship Center, where worship is central to everything we do. Please join us in our journey with the Lord, in worship, study and community life . . . .there's a place for you.
At SWC, we are a worship center whose outreach and vision are driven by the simple expression, “loving people, loving God.” We serve a God who defines what love is in its highest form, and it's our great joy as believers to share His love with others. When we love God with everything we are, and love those around us through grace-filled, compassionate service, that's life-style worship.
Pastor Jim and Suzy Cornwall founded Scottsdale Worship Center in 1984. Our first sanctuary was located in the cafeteria of Desert Shadows Middle School. With the Lord's help, we grew in number and in 1985 purchased the property we have currently.
Today, the property encompasses four acres in the heart of north Scottsdale. More importantly, Scottsdale Worship Center isn't about the campus or the buildings, but the people that make up our church family. It is about lives changed and relationships restored. We have just celebrated our 25th anniversary, an incredible testament to God’s faithfulness. While much has changed over the years, our driving passion has not. We’re committed to being a church where whole-life worship to the Lord is central to everything we do, expressed through the purpose of “loving people, loving God.”
Our Beliefs
The Gospel is a profound but simple message of a loving Creator God who gave all He had, His Son Jesus Christ, to restore the broken relationship between mankind and Himself. SWC has some essential beliefs that are derived from scripture. In dealing with non-essential beliefs, we function in love and liberty toward each other, while "preserving the unity of the Spirit." (Romans 14, Ephesians 4:4-6, I Corinthians 13:2) Here are our essential, or non-negotiable beliefs:
